PhotInfo is an app to control all the information (location, date, camera, focal length, etc.) contained in your photos.

Digital cameras (including those in mobile devices) add metadata to the photos they take. These data are called Exif tags. They provide an opportunity to learn not only the exact date and time of the shoot, but also parameters such as exposure time, shutter speed, image resolution, device model, ISO, focal length, whether the flash was used, etc.

Letting PhotInfo access the photos on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, you can view all of their metadata, delete these metadata or modify some of them. With the PhotInfo’s Extension it is possible to view the main tags directly from other apps, like the native Photos app (iPhone and iPad only).

You may delete/modify the image tags to protect your privacy before sharing the image; you may add GPS data if you had forgotten to turn on location services when you took the picture; you may joke by setting improbable location values; you may reset date or location deleted by a previous editing; you may...

• the completeness of tags shown
• the possibility to see the tags in raw format or in a more human readable one
• the convenient navigation between photos and albums
• the toolbar that allows the user to favorite, hide or delete a picture

• view all the Exif tags from the picture
• display an image with the main tags and the map of the location in a single view
• share an image with or without tags
• copy the key data or the content of individual tags
• share all the tags in raw or in human readable format or as a JSON
• create a copy of the image eliminating or modifying tags for:
- the place (you can take it from another picture)
- the date and time when the photo was taken (you can take it from another picture)
- the orientation
- the author (the artist)
- the copyright
- the image description
• create a copy of the image with the minimum content of the tags (related to image data structure, such as the image size, resolution and orientation)
• see where the photo was taken, in different ways (map, address, coordinate)
• favorite, hide or delete a photo
• quickly scroll through the albums of your iOS device
• support for burst photos
• view the tags in videos (read only)
• view the tags directly from other apps with the PhotInfos Extension

Pros and cons of PhotInfo app for iPhone and iPad

PhotInfo app good for

December 2016: This app just gets better and better. I use it frequently to keep EXIF details in order before photos go "up" to Dropbox or Google Photos. It is so much easier to have them chronologically exact, in particular for old photos that have been "scanned", such as with Google PhotoScan. Thank you to the developer. 2 Feb 2016 : The latest update that gives a large choice for finding the wanted location for an image is awesome. Makes this EXIF editor just great and so easy to use. A must for anyone interested in keeping some sort of order in their photos. Thank you. Thank you for this latest update. I use PhotInfo all the time to add or change EXIF info on photo creations, drawings etc.. so that all images are correct date and place and therefore easily found and seen with images from that day. Easy to use and soooo useful.
This is a very nice app and it works well. Hope you will consider adding the type of file, like TIFF, JPEG, PNG etc. I know it is there under Tags...but it would be nice on the Details screen...
This gives great info about the metadata of a picture all in one place. I find it very useful.
Ive tried several apps that give you the meta data associated with a photo. I find this one to be the best so far.
Add your copyright and a description to your photos before sharing. I love that this app - lets me get abbreviated exif data from inside other apps! Just use the Share button and find PhotInfo as an option. The screen layout of info with picture is just what I wanted to see, additional details also available when viewing images from app. Info now includes app that created or modified my photos and some specific settings. Very helpful! Developer is very responsive.
I use this app regularly to check information on photos I take. The latest versions with extensions for iOS 8 are even better because I can check tech details on a photo right from the Photos app. The map view on the extension is great, too.

Some bad moments

I loved this app and was using it all the time...until the last update. In the previous versions, the images were sorted in their order of creation in the camera roll. Now the sort is done on the date the picture was taken. So good luck finding the latest image added in the camera roll... Either its a bug or a very bad decision. Im now using CheckPhoto.
App does allow you to modify exif metadata. But the interface for what I needed to change is needlessly awkward and time consuming. I am trying to fix the year within the date on pictures of my grandson taken by my daughters friend. This would be helpful for historical reasons and to allow me to find them again by the correct dates later. This app will allow me to do this, but only one picture at a time, which is painfully slow, but, the interface to change the date is a scrolling wheel, and does not allow me to change the only character in the date field that is incorrect, the least significant digit of the year, which is off by 4 years. Instead of typing over one character, the interface requires me to use a scrolling barrel, which can only change by days at a time. I have to scroll across 4 years of days for each field within each pic. It does actually allow me to change the date, but it may take me a week to change the 60 or so pics with the wrong date, due to the interface.
PhotInfo is hands down, the best metadata viewer on the AppStore. Im excited about the added extension which is cleanly displayed. I used Investigator before this one, however, with investigator, you can view advanced Exif from the extension, which is quite nice. PhotInfo doesnt display enough Exif data, so Im forced to keep Investigator around. Another thing is the grid view within the app squishes the photo. It was better as square thumbnails.
You can edit the date of a picture put only within the year of the original date. There is no way to change the year!
Great idea and great app! One tap - and you can now all basic metadata of your photo from the standard "Photos" app. Exactly what i needed. Highly recommend.
this is by far the best implementation of access to EXIF data for iOS. smoothly integrated as a share sheet icon that looks and feels like an Apple product with no problems. a well thought out and executed app.
